Aly and AJ surprise Mandeville school kids!  December 20, 2007

Winning a contest for a school has never been so cool! When Woodlake Elementary School won the grand prize award for the Hope for Education contest by Samsung Technology (in partnership with Microsoft Software), they thought they'll just receive the promised technology makeover for the school. Instead, they got a surprise performance from the lovable pop sisters, Aly and AJ! It was a secret and the students were just told to gather in the auditorium for the awards ceremony. City, school and parish officials packed the auditorium, television cameras were trained on the stage, and a montage of Aly and AJ music videos played on a large screen.

After Steven Cook, Samsung's chief strategic marketing officer, asked the crowd "Okay are you guys ready for something fun?" - the sisters entered through the auditorium door and walked on stage, to the screams of the students. As Aly was unwrapping book gifts from Mr. Cook, she told the squealing kids that education is a big part of their lives. "It really helped us to get to where we are," she shared. After presenting the school with an oversized $200,000 check, Aly and AJ then performed a few of their hit songs to endless screams of thrilled fans. Wowza!

Aly and AJ joins Miley Cyrus!  December 13, 2007

Attention moms and dads! If you missed Miley Cyrus' Best of Both Worlds concert this year, the teen superstar has just announced plans to extend her wildly successful tour! Fourteen more dates were added, and that meant 14 more shows (and chances to get your darling children some tickets!) for three more weeks until it concludes on January 31 in Miami. The best thing? Popular sister act, Aly and AJ will be joining the additional Best of Both Worlds shows! They will replace the Jonas Brothers as Miley's opening act. You can catch Aly and AJ opening for Miley on the following places: Detroit; Milwaukee; Chicago; St. Louis; Las Vegas; Glendale, Arizona; Austin; Lafayette, Louisiana; New Orleans; Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida. If you can't wait til next year to hear Aly and AJ (or the rest of the Disney stars), you can grab the 14-track "Disney Channel Christmas Hits" CD. The pop sister duo rendered the wonderful Pop Punk festive treat "Greatest time of year" =)

Alyson Michalka in Scary Movie 5??  November 30, 2007

There's a dearth of news in the world of Aly and AJ these past few days. Must be because the elder sister is busy filming Lovely Bones with Orlando Bloom and other A-list celebrities. But guess what?? While reading about Hulk Hogan (and his upcoming divorce), I found a lil bit piece of news about Alyson Michalka. According to PWMania.com, the teen singer-actress (along with Hulk Hogan) is set to star in the upcoming fifth installment of the Scary Movie franchise. How cool is that?? It's still unconfirmed but hey, you know how fun it is when you'll star in Scary Movie! Alyson Michalka's rumored upcoming movie will be directed by David Zucker and written by Jim Abrahams and Craig Mazin. According to reports, Scary Movie 5 will be different from the other movies as it will only parody a small amount of films. Among them, The Omen, Final Destination trilogy, and Lady in the Water. The movie is set to be released on October 10, 2008. Can't wait for confirmed reports on this one!

Aly and AJ to do a cover!  November 16, 2007

What?? Pop stars now make bed covers?? Nooo, that's not what I mean, lol! According to reports, the effervescent duo are the latest artists to do a cover for Pepsi Smash's Cover Act. Aly and AJ performed with a third musician in doing a cover of K.T. Tunstall's "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree." Inspired by their London trip (to promote their Insomniatic album), the sisters stamped their own brand of pop on the said song by Tunstall. AJ was on lead vocal duty on the cover while Aly took over on harmonies and the second half of the verses. One critic reports that "The cover has got some great qualities, such as the harmonies on the chorus. And the last 30 seconds or so of the song has a dueling vocals rhythm to it." Nice work Aly and AJ! =) On other news, the two can also be seen in Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause DVD where they performed in the "Greatest Time of Year" music video.

Aly & AJ gives advice to Britney  November 3, 2007

Problematic Disney stars (past and present) are all over Hollywood these days, filling tabloids with their paparazzi-endearing actions. There's a recently rehabilitated Lindsay Lohan, a washed-out Britney Spears (thank god her new album is doing great), and who could forget Vanessa Hudgens' nude scandal. Still, there are those with clean images like Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, and Aly & AJ. Hilary has just vowed that she won't get into scandals while the singing duo pledged they'd concentrate in their singing and not in partying. Aly says, "Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears are amazing when they focus on their music but at the moment they're lost." Thus don't expect to see Alyson Renae (18) and Amanda Joy Michalka (16) in gossip rags detailing some wild party behavior. The two are bent on singing, period. Aly's final advice to the troubled singers? "They should go on holiday and figure it out together." Lol, that sounds like fun!

Aly and AJ invades... videogames??  October 13, 2007

Yup, the talented sisters are now videogame characters! And don’t worry, I won’t talk about how commercialized Hollywood has become, lol! AJ and Alyson Michalka are one of Disney’s hottest properties. Their two albums went multi-platinum, and they just released their third album. This October, the singing duo are set to invade UK (even the well-respected Guardian loved them!) and as mentioned, the videogame world. So, if you’re children love Aly and AJ, better get their game for them!

The videogame platform that got Aly and AJ is Nintendo. According to the company, there are many third-party game publishers supporting their Nintendo DS and Wii consoles. Thus, in no time at all, there’d be a game for every kind of consumer out there. And so, it won’t be surprising that there’d be game made for Aly and AJ. The said game is entitled “The Aly & AJ Adventure” which is from DSI Games and made for DS. It is set to be released this October 15. Better get in line mums and dads!
